Get OutsidePeopleSports Winter Hiking with Springwater Trails By Contributor January 10, 2022 0 By Dena Munsell Winter season begins and with it starts a new round of Springwater Trails Sunday hikes. Launching off on January 9, the group will explore a portion of the Seneca and Crescent Trails in Perinton and afterwards retire to The Distillery for food, drink and chat. Also planned for this month are forays into Schreiber Valley with a bonfire following, a portion of the Genesee Valley Greenway heading north from Avon and an old favorite, Harriet Hollister Spencer Park in Canadice. The winter hiking series will run through Sunday, March 27 and will including opportunities for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Patriot Park in Bristol (photo submitted) Springwater Trails is in it’s 11th year and while originally its focus was on trails in Springwater and adjoining towns, these days hikes are held throughout the Finger Lakes and Rochester areas. Hikes are held on Sundays from 2-4PM with social get-togethers following at area restaurants or members homes. Hikes are free and open to all hikers. There are several different groups for all hikes in order to meet individual needs, from slow to fast and short to long.
